Sustainable Life: A Life To Learn and Implement

When I turned a vegan almost 2 years ago, I also tried learning more about sustainable life. Many people feel that sustainable life is not only very expensive but a difficult one to lead. They also believe that one who supports sustainable life needs to compromise at every step of their life and cannot have a normal life like others.

Sustainable life means leading a life where you are attempting to reduce the society’s or individual’s use of natural resources. Misusing of the natural resources is what needs to be stopped. But that doesn’t mean that we will stop using our natural resources and will live a life of saint without any luxury. Sustainable life is also known as “green life”, “earth harmony living”, ‘net zero living”, and so on.

Nowadays having a sustainable life also means one is taking a step forward to use renewable energy. Many critics and environmentalists like, Derrick Jensen is saying that industrial revolution is obviously brought growth and development to the society and the mankind, but this also somehow disturbed the lifestyle of common people. Industries and manufacturing plants increased the pollution level. Water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and many other type of pollutions came into being which never existed in this world before.

These days, we grab every possible opportunity to visit any eco-resorts and eco-villages. We appreciate green trees and plants around us, but on the other hand we only encourage the use of plastics. We all celebrate “World Environment Day” on 5 June every year and also update on our social media handlers, but we rarely do something on the real ground to cover it or prove it. Are we real humans with hell lot of intelligence and wisdom? Aren’t we destroying our own home (planet Earth)?

P.S. — In my next blog posts, I will talk about environmental sustainability and some myths about sustainable lifestyle.
