My Journey to use Vegan and Cruelty-Free Cosmetics

Since the age of 25 I was a cosmetic lover. I only used kohl pencils, eyeliners and lip balms. I slowly started using lipsticks, then mascara and so on. Deep interest in the world of makeup creeped into me in 2019. I started watching some amazing makeup YouTubers who post makeup tutorials and their daily skin care routine.

As I turned vegan in October 2019, I decided that I should research more on the vegan cosmetics. I did a detailed research on cruelty-free makeup brands. The brands I was using were never cruelty-free. They are amazing and never impacted my skin or face but in the long run they are not good.

I simply realised that, we apply cosmetics to look better and to make our appearance effective and pretty to the world, then why those products are experimented on the animals during the production or experiment process? Isn’t it inhuman to use those products on the innocent animals which cannot even tell us how they are feeling. This reminds me of the famous dialogue from the film Legally Blonde 2, where Reese Witherspoon says, “I’m here to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.” She was there to speak for the innocent animals and to protest against the cruelty happening on the animals in the name of testing.

You need to check certain symbols on the packaging to confirm whether its vegan and cruelty free brand. Many brands are cruelty-free but not 100% vegan. The brands must have a certification from PETA, then only they can use the symbol on their packaging.

The products are being tested on animals every now and then and then later when the products are perfected then they are launched in the market for the humans. Isn’t inhuman and cruel? Presently, I’m using E.l.f Cosmetics, which is an amazing cosmetic brand and recently it won many esteemed titles as well. I am not promoting this brand but just telling that it’s a great vegan and cruelty-free cosmetic brand. Apart than this, I use Forever Living products, Belora Cosmetics, Juicy Chemistry, Paul Penders, Disguise Cosmetics and Plum. These are safe for your skin and hopefully you won’t regret using them just like me.
