Myths and Facts Related to 16/8 Intermittent Fasting Method

So recently, my younger brother read my intermittent fasting blog post. Out of curiosity, he asked me to research and write more about the types of intermittent fasting. So I decided to start with the 16/8 method, which is my favourite and I am practising it presently.

16/8 intermittent fasting method means, an individual will be fasting for 16 hours and will be eating for 8 hours. Individuals can do it every day and can also do it on alternate days. Those who are planning to shed their extra kilos and want to come back to desirable body shape, they can easily start with it. You just need to restrict your number of diets consuming in a day and need to eat small portions within 8 hours. But eating small portions doesn\’t mean you won\’t eat. You need to eat nutritious and clean food.

Personally, I have been practising the 16/8 method for the last 3 months and have lost weight. In the month of January 2020, I was 55.5 kgs which were over the weight inline to my height, and as of today, I am 52 kgs. To me, it\’s a significant unit of weight loss.
I fast for 16 hours every day. I take my lunch between 12 noon and 12.30 PM, light snacks in the evening between 4.30 and 5 PM and dinner between 7.30 and 8 PM. After 8 PM till next day 12 noon apart than water I don\’t consume anything. While other fasting methods have strict instructions to follow, but here in the 16/8 method, things are easy. You must know the following benefits of this fasting method:

  • Improved blood sugar control
  • Burns fat easily
  • Accelerates brain function
  • Reduces chances of chronic health problems
  • Improves heart condition
  • Reduces risk of few cancer types
  • Enhances physical tenacity

In the case of animal research, many researchers found calorie restriction increases their lifespan and improves basic metabolism. Harvard School of Public Health says, calorie restriction results are way stronger in animals compared to humans, but the results in human bodies cannot be ignored. Intermittent fasting raises an immune response which repairs cells and produces positive metabolic changes.

Many of you might say how can you suppress your hunger. You will be very hungry when you will start the intermittent fasting, but once 2-3 weeks are over you will be accustomed to the process. Medical News Today suggests you can keep yourself busy with your office work, you can have herbal tea or black coffee to suppress the hunger. Drink lots of water to suppress the hunger, detox your body and improve digestive system. But most importantly, your central locus has to be strong. If you are determined to lose weight and improve your metabolism, then you can win this battle and can be fitter. It\’s a really amazing process for the people who don\’t have time to work out in the gym or are too lazy to go to the gym. Ther\’s no harm in giving rest to your digestive system for 16 hours.
