Cow Milk Is Not Vegan: Fact or Myth

When I turned vegan, the biggest challenge for me to shift myself from cow milk to vegan milk. I researched quite a lot and found proper vegan milk options around me. Many of you must be thinking \”what is vegan milk?\” The milk which is produced from the plants or plant seeds is known as vegan milk. Cow milk is not a vegan option, so I had to shift to vegan milk.

I started having almond, soy, pistachios and coconut milk which I found interesting and tasty. You can also try other options of vegan milk like hemp, rice, oats, macadamia, cashew milk. Some more varieties of vegan milk are also available, but these are easily found in the supermarkets. Some might also think that vegans cannot have cheese as cheese is also made from cow milk. Vegan cheese is also available these days in the supermarkets. Vegan cheese is mainly made from cashew nuts and soy. They are tasty as well as healthy options for every age group consumers.

Following are the reasons why cow milk is not so beneficial:

  • Cow milk is not safe for human consumption if they are homogenized and pasteurized. Safe for calves not for humans.
  • After been homogenized, the structure of the milk component is so damaged that cream no longer separates from milk. Hence, all the milk fat cells are stuck with humans\’ intestine.
  • Again homogenized and pasteurized milk doesn\’t possess calcium to strengthen your bones. As per the recent findings, countries which consume the highest quantity of milk have the highest limit of osteoporosis (a disease which weakens the bone strength).
  • Pottenger\’s Cats experiment carried between 1932 and 1942 were between two groups of cats. One group was fed natural and untreated milk, whereas the other group was fed raw and cooked food. The group of cats which were constantly fed milk showed calcium deficiency along with a low fertility rate, on the other hand, the other group was fine.
  • Some Canadian researchers opined that too much cow milk consumption can lead to iron deficiency among young people. Human babies are physiologically designed to have human milk, not cow milk.

When humans consume cow milk, lactose mix with galactose and cause vision, prostate and various other illness in adults. There\’s a huge difference between cow milk protein and human milk protein. Hence, digestion, intolerance, impaired absorption of nutrients and auto-immune disease arises. So please my humble request is to don\’t take the toll on your health. Let animals have their milk and let humans have their milk. Once you are old enough, vegan / plant-based milk is good enough for the human body to function smoothly.
