How Ayurveda Brought the Vegan Wave?

Recently I was reading about the history of Ayurveda and I found deep connections between Ayurveda and vegan diet. Nowadays people from western countries are adopting vegan diet, but Ayurveda started doing this centuries ago. It was religion oriented, where people avoided eating meat as they gave respect to the lives of animals. In eastern culture, people also worshipped animals from the time immemorial as they tamed animals to get benefits.

In Jainism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism, respecting animals and not eating them is centuries old tradition. In these religions eating animals were prohibited to prevent non-violence towards all the living organisms on earth. So abstaining from taking life of the living organisms in heinous.

According to The Vegan Society founded in England, veganism is a simple philosophy to stop exploitation of the living organisms in any form. Cruelty towards animals for food, fashion, cosmetics or any form is not just a crime but damage to the environment. Researches have shown that dropping meat and dairy consumption from your diet can ease your nervous system. Meat consumption brings aggression and hostility in humans. This also leads to various neurological and psychological disorders too. Many western medicine experts believe that practising vegan diet is a personal choice to stop animal cruelty.

Recently, in Faroe Islands, Denmark more than 1400 dolphins were slaughtered. If any of you have watched the documentary film “Seaspiracy” on Netflix then you must be aware that in many countries of the world sharks fins are used to make soup and various other recipes. The fins are extracted and then the sharks are dropped back in the ocean water fins-less. Nobody is worried that how those sharks will live and swim across the ocean. But people are worried about having shark fins in their exotic dishes.

I feel the pain for the animals and have noticed lot of improvement in my health, that’s why I stopped eating meat and continued with my plant-based diet. I innovate recipes at home and try to bring something different on the table. Nobody has given me the right to kill animals in the name of satisfying my taste buds. I cook plant-based food and help people to improve their lifestyle too. I feel this is the best thing I can do as God gave me the intelligence, knowledge and ability to do for the human race and to protect animal kingdom.
