Today (29th September) is celebrated globally as World Heart Day. Many of us might not be knowing that cardiovascular diseases (heart diseases) are one of the deadliest ones on earth. Almost 18.6 million people’s lives are lost every year due to heart issues. In May 2012, world leaders took an oath of reducing the cardiovascular issues across the globe by 25% by 2025.

Doctors all over the world are counselling and spreading awareness that how heart issues and strokes are claiming people’s lives. So that’s why they suggest good ways to improve our heart health. Harvard Health Publishing by Harvard Medical School says that,
1. Do light exercises every day and if not possible then go for walks at least once a day.
2. Visiting and exercising at gym is off course a great way to stay in shape, but seeing the present scenario of pandemic visiting gym could be difficult. Lifting weights at home or lifting weight while returning home from groceries shopping can help you.
3. Eat your greens. Most of the people ignore this point most of the times. They think green vegetables don’t provide enough nutrition to our body. If you are not diabetic then having fruits won’t trouble you at all.

4. Have you gone nuts? Yes, have nuts every single day in the morning. Try to add them in your breakfast if you prefer that. Having walnuts and pistachios can provide a great deal of omega 3 acids.
5. Soda, sugar/aerated drinks or consuming alcohol will give you heart troubles as these drinks are high with calories.
6. Keeping your respiratory system in good shape is also related to good heart health. You must practice deep breathing every morning and in between your work throughout the day. That will keep your blood pressure in control.
7. Meditation is another good way to reduce your stress and blood pressure. It has other benefits too. It helps you to manage your anger as well. Count your blessings as well while meditating.
8. Keeping an eye on your body weight and on your fat is very much needed. The more you gain weight, the more heart issues will arise. Fat is the mother of many other diseases in a human body apart than heart issues.
9. Discarding meat, fish and eggs from your diet will gradually improve your heart health. Older people and pregnant women generally get digestion issues and that causes heartburns. This leads to heart attacks.
10. “Smoking is injurious to health”. It’s always written on the cigarette packets but nobody cares. It’s high time to care about these things.
Always remember that heart attack symptoms in men and women are different. It’s always easy to track heart attacks in men compared to women. So whenever you are having issues, don’t push away your doctor consultation. But always remember that simple lifestyle changes can help you to improve your quality of life. Lifestyle changes are always better than long list of medicines.
