The recent climate crisis in UK and Canada, made me write this over here. I’m sure all of you have gone through the news articles that how the heat wave in Canada killed so many people. Canada also registered the patient zero (first case) of “climate change”. Turkish wildfires in July and August 2021 was an alarming situation.

Many of might be surprised to know that climate crisis is a century old concept. A French physicist, Joseph Fourier first came up with the concept of Earth’s natural “greenhouse effect” in 1824. In 1896, Swedish chemist Svante Arrhenius opined that coal burning and heavy usage of heavy machines due to the Industrial Age will impact the climate of the planet.
The term “global warming” started appearing in the articles since 1970s, and in 1988 it became a global crisis, when Dr. James Hansen, the then director of NASA’s Institute of Space Studies discussed the cause and effect relationship between the greenhouse effect and the global warming.

As per the weather reports in UK in 2020, it was 3rd warmest, 5th wettest and 8th sunniest of all. In 2020, UK recorded one of the least snowy years. From 2011-2020, it was 0.5 degrees warmer than 1981-2010 and 1.1 degree warmer than 1961-1990. Now the major concern not only for the UK government, but for the entire planet is how to tackle global warming.
Many experts listed down few things which can help us to stop climate crisis. Some of those points are fly less, drive less, protect and plant more trees, save more water, save electricity, lead a sustainable life, use environment-friendly products, start using more of the cruelty-free products, kill less animals, and so on.

Why can’t take up a small responsibility? What can’t we take baby steps in improving our planet? It’s not going to take centuries to improve. Sometimes, I personally feel that we took centuries and millenniums to evolve and reach to the position where we are right now, but it won’t take a century to destroy. Please be responsible for your actions and work accordingly, because THERE’S NO PLANET B.
