Carbon emission is one of those new concepts where almost all the industry vertices are concerned. Our planet is behaving weird and partly we are responsible for that. Humans started doing things differently and as per their own wishes and requirements. Earlier I have talked about the list of countries with the highest carbon footprints and the lowest footprints. So I thought why not talk about the industry vertices which are producing the highest carbon emission in this planet.

Top 5 business domains with highest carbon emission
1. Energy industry: Enough of energy supply is the biggest concern for the entire globe and its population, but the irony is energy industry is producing the highest amount of carbon footprints all over the world. We run here and there to get enough energy supply at our home and other places but they are producing almost 73.2% of carbon emissions in the planet as the report by “Our World in Data” in 2020. Majorly, the thermal power plants are responsible for producing this much of heat and pollution by burning coals. They also offer power supply for residential, commercial, industrial and transportation industries.
2. Transportation: We just saw that how the energy industry leading to the transportation business vertical. In earlier times, all the vehicles were using fossil fuel to function on the roads. But due to the scarcity of fossil fuel in many parts of the world, transportation companies are introducing various ways to control their greenhouse gas emission. Among these automobiles and aircrafts are the one spreading the highest amount of carbon in this planet.
3. Farming industry: You all will be shocked to know that farming and dairy industry is standing at the 3rd position responsible for the highest carbon emission. The major amount of pollution is coming from rearing the livestock (31%), growing crops through machines (27%), next is land use (24%) and last but not the least is supply chain system (18%). To keep the livestock alive in the farms, crops are needed to be produced in abundance. To maintain this, air, water and soil gets polluted every day and this has been the process for the past centuries.
4. Financial sector: Yes, you are right. Don’t rub your eyes while reading this. Financial sector is one of those sectors, where humans always had interest in. Irrespective of their business domains and annual pay check, people are always interested in understanding the financial sector. As per the GHG contribution (Global Greenhouse Gas), financial sector is producing almost 700% of carbon emission pretty directly. In the UK, financial sector produced 805 million tonnes of CO2 emission or waste in 2019.
5. Technology industry: We all are surrounded by technology and devices and we just cannot live without it. But do we know that technology, machines and devices also spread pollution. Currently, tech emissions varies between 2 – 3.9% and its like to increase if no interventions made quickly. The tech industry is trying their level best to clean up that polluted mess. The European Commission leads the European Green Digital Coalition and they are exclusively the United Nations Environment Programme. They pledged to clean most of the pollution created by the tech industry by 2040. This pledge has already been signed by more than 20 companies, including Vodafone, Microsoft and many more.
By reading this blog post, I’m sure you all got a hint that how much of pollution is available on our planet. Somehow or the other, we humans are only responsible for this greenhouse gas emission. The above mentioned data were taken from the reports found in 2020. But this data is changing with passing each year. Pledges are being made, and its not just about UNO or some other brands to look into. Its our responsibility too to protect this planet. We have to take sone step at a time and have to find out solutions to help our planet breathe.
